Who Is Digita Epona?
I am Morgan Kennedy, the founder and owner of Digital Epona. I have done this work under various other company names as a freelance web developer since the mid-1990’s. By day I am an Enterprise Solutions Architect. I have worked on websites and web applications for companies such as Coca-Cola, Ernst & Young, Ford Motor Company, Kaiser Permanente, Toyota, et al. I bring that experience into the work I do for small businesses, from gathering technical requirements to solutioning for a particular customer journey to implementing integrations with third-party applications.
I continue to do freelance work because I really enjoy it. I love my small business clients, several of whom I have built relationships with over decades. They keep me grounded and keep my development skills sharp, as I spend very little of my day job actually writing code any more.
I work with other freelancers, including graphic designers, social media specialists, and email marketing managers. While I can do those things myself, should those services be required by my customers in a way that I am not able to fulfill (I know my limitations), my freelance partners quote and bill their own work. I never take a cut of their profit. We help each other out and that is the spirit in which I do my business – help.
I am here to assist you with your website needs. Whether that is just a landing page with a contact form or a whole integrated ecommerce site, my number one goal is making your website work for you, not creating website work for you.
What is Digital Epona?
The name itself came about when I started to focus my work on equine-related small businesses. I will work with anyone, but I have horses myself and know that world very well. Most equine-related business owners do not have time or energy to manage technology. They can barely manage the time to answer emails. I create solutions that allow them to be in the barn, not stuck at their desktop.
The Digital Epona philosophy is one of service and affordability. Because this work does not pay my mortgage I can keep my prices in reach for most small businesses. Yes, it is an investment, but no small business should need to come up with $10k for a website. I have even, on occasion, done a website in trade for a service.
Because I am not focused on a bottom line I can also do things like help fix an existing website for a reasonable price, or answer questions about email marketing or SEO without charging a consulting fee. The more educated my customers are the more they see the value of the work that I do for them and that cements our relationship. The majority of work I get comes through existing customer recommendations.
My clients are not just invoices to me. I genuinely like them and am always available to brainstorm with, to talk about future plans, to cheer them on in their endeavors. I am happy to answer texts on a Sunday because I know their business takes no time off. I don’t just build websites – I build relationships that I am invested in.
